The international yacht market in 2025 remains resilient and full of momentum. Despite global uncertainties and occasional adjustments in series yacht production, the demand for high-quality yachts, custom new builds, and large pre-owned vessels continues at a stable to positive level.

In particular, the market for yachts over 50 meters remains robust. Sales figures in this segment are nearly unchanged compared to the previous year, and in the 60–80 meter range, there has even been a slight increase. The outlook for yachts over 80 meters is also promising: numerous projects are currently in concrete negotiations, indicating a strong end to the year.

This development highlights that the demand for bespoke, high-quality superyachts remains strong. Buyers are increasingly investing in individuality, technological innovation, and sustainability—values that play an ever-greater role in modern yacht construction. Hybrid propulsion systems, energy-efficient technologies, and smart onboard systems are shaping the new builds of tomorrow while simultaneously increasing the attractiveness of existing models.

A particularly positive sign comes from the pre-owned market: yachts from 30 meters in length continue to be actively traded. From January to the end of July 2025, 200 pre-owned yachts changed hands—almost identical to the previous year. At the same time, the average size and value of the yachts sold increased significantly: the total gross tonnage rose by eight percent, and the total sales volume exceeded three billion euros by mid-year. This demonstrates that both experienced owners and newcomers increasingly prefer the purchase of larger, higher-quality yachts.

The trend toward larger and more technically sophisticated yachts offers new opportunities for both shipyards and owners. Many manufacturers are responding with innovative concepts, flexible interior layouts, and sustainable propulsion solutions that meet the changing expectations of modern buyers. Especially sought after are yachts that are not only luxurious but also functional and future-proof—floating sanctuaries featuring digital control systems, wellness areas, and efficient energy use.

The growing professionalism in after-sales service, financing, and insurance is also strengthening the market. Thanks to international networks and specialized providers—such as BAVARIA AG—yacht owners benefit from comprehensive solutions that combine protection, consulting, and value preservation. In an evolving market environment, long-term support is becoming increasingly important: from individual risk analysis to fast and transparent claims processing.

Although yacht building in the mid-size segment is currently somewhat more restrained, the long-term trends clearly point upward: growing international demand, a rising share of younger and more tech-savvy buyers, and a stronger focus on quality, sustainability, and service.

Markus Wolf, CEO of BAVARIA AG, summarizes:

“The yacht market of 2025 is not a crisis market, but a market in transition—characterized by stable demand, greater diversity, and a new generation of owners who will increasingly focus on smart technologies, sustainable luxury, and personal service in the future. For shipyards, dealers, and insurers, this creates exciting growth opportunities.”
