During inspections, boat owners in most EU countries must be able to produce certain documents.
At the beginning of the season, administrative matters relating to the boat sometimes fall out of focus. Then it is often a question of whether the repair work from the winter was carried out well or whether the new electronic device delivers what was promised. Therefore, BAVARIA AG would like to remind all captains and boat owners once again to carry the liability certificate. It is obligatory in most EU countries and is renewed annually.
Whether on Lake Garda, in Italy, on the Balearic Islands, in the Aegean Sea, off the Croatian Kornati Islands or in the bay off Cannes – the authorities often carry out random checks, especially at the anchorage. It then becomes problematic if the valid liability certificate cannot be shown to the officials. This can even lead to the ship not being allowed to move until proof of insurance has been provided. Especially during the vacation season, this is an annoying and avoidable incident.
Sandra Aharabian, CEO of BAVARIA AG, says: “Every year we get excited calls from customers who have forgotten their certificate and need immediate assistance on the spot. BAVARIA AG has a hotline for this, which solves the problem immediately. But of course it is better to place the liability certificate securely on board to avoid incidents.”
Incidentally, BAVARIA AG issues the certificates six weeks before they are due, so they are sent out in good time before the previous year’s certificate expires. This applies to all motor or sailing yachts, dinghies and jet skis.
