Now, in August, many owners and charterers enjoy yachting on the coasts of the Mediterranean. Spain, France, Croatia and Italy are particularly popular destinations. Traditionally, it gets relatively busy around Sardinia The Italian island attracts many yachts with its kilometres of white sandy beaches and turquoise waters. In mid-August, Cala di Volpe often resembles a “who’s who” of the international superyacht scene.
As soon as the big formats leave the bays and marinas, the regatta courses are marked out. From 4 to 10 September, for example, the Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup will be held off Sardinia, for which 50 racers had already registered at the end of July.
In this context, BAVARIA AG once again advises to check the coverage amount of the yacht insurance. Italian law requires by far the highest minimum sum insured of all European countries.
In June 2022, the law was amended to increase the minimum coverage amount that had been valid until then. Now a sum insured of 6,450,000 euros applies for personal injury and 1,300,000 euros for property damage. Owners who want to discover Sardinia should therefore ensure that their boat is insured for at least 7.75 million euros. If you have any questions, just contact the BAVARIA AG team.
